Keeping a home neat and tidy is one of the most annoying tasks especially when you don’t get results. In the home hack article for the day, we’d like to cover some cleaning related home hacks.

1. Removing Gooey Gunk

Over years, a home not only becomes dusty, but areas where there’s a lot of human touch or areas like the kitchen have a loot of gunk in them. This makes the surface sticky and generally there’s a dark spot. The best strategy to clear this type of gunk is to use 1 tbsp of vegetable oil and two tbsp’s of baking soda to clear the area off.

2. Getting rid of Rust

Rust stains can be very stubborn to get rid of. To remove these stains cut half a lemon, add a tea spoon of salt to the rust area and rub. Soon you will start seeing the rust clear off.

3. Cleaning Mirrors

Truth be told, mirror cleaning is easy, if you throw water on the mirror, you are good to go. But, if you want to truly clean the mirror, then add a few drops of vinegar to the water and you can get a much cleaner mirror for a long time.

4. Shower Head

Shower Heads is part of the therapeutic process in my house. I stand under the shower under hot water and it releases all my tensions. Now, when the shower head starts behaving erratically and starts spraying water that means it’s time to clean it. Small dirt particles cover the holes. You can clean it with the old and cumbersome technique of taking a pin and punching the holes. Or, you could use the new age technique of wrapping a plastic cover that is filled with vinegar and water around your shower head and let it sit there for about 30 minutes.

5. Cleaning the Drain

The old warhorses of house cleaning are Baking Soda and Vinegar. The combination of these two chemicals create a wonderful chemical reaction that cleanses everything in its way. A clogged drain is an annoying hassle that keeps cropping up every once in a while. If your drain is clogged, pour some hot water down the drain followed by half a cup of baking soda, then comes 1 cup of vinegar, and then to seal the deal you could our 1 cup of hot water. After the bubbles stop frothing, pur some more hot water and keep it running. This loosens all the gunk in the drain.

6. Whitening Sneakers

The new fashion trend this season has been the pure white sneakers. Nice though they are, it is a total menace to maintain them because of their affinity towards getting dirty. Also, just when you wear your white shoes, that is when all the people happen to stamp your shoes. A swift solution is alcohol. Not the drinking kind, but the kind that’s there in your nail polish remover. Dab a bit of nail polish remover in the dirty area and wipe it clean. After that’s dab, dab a little bit of water for the final touches.

Those were some home hacks that keep your house and belonging clean. How many are you going to attempt today?
